Sanity during Uncertainty: Taurus

Sanity during Uncertainty: Taurus

“Adopt the pace of nature, her secret is patience.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

Ruled by Venus, the planet of relating, love, earning, and attraction, Taurus represents our material possessions, money, food, body, sensual pleasures, and physical security. The sun moves into this earth sign on April 19. After the initiating fire of Aries, nature is “Now in Progress” in Taurus. Mother Earth presents bright colors and affirms life as birds and bugs declare their existence.

A fixed, steadfast, and sustaining energy, Taurus inspires ways to keep our sanity. It is motivated by having no drama. Think Ferdinand the Bull, a sweet, massive being that sits and smell the flowers. Even in the bull fighting ring. He was so focused on the flowers in the spectators’ hats, that he didn’t engage the matador.

The energy lately feels like a battleground. People talk about performing with little juice left, conflicts at work and home, missing loved ones and ways of life. We work hard to manage while dealing with constant shifts. It is exhausting. As I write, I am breaking off melted-together dark chocolate chips to insert in my mouth. 😂

Some tips to tend to our precious body and inner resources:

Know what you love and let that center you. Prioritize me-time and gift of patience. Bring attention to what feeds your soul, do that, and let the noise fall away. This is the antidote to stress. What do you love to do or create? What is your equivalent of ‘Ferdinand’s flowers?’ “Investing in your physical and emotional well-being is the smartest move you will ever make,” writes money expert Suze Orman.

Our energy spreads and we resonate with each other’s frequency. Have you ever noticed when you are in a midst of some angst, your pets or kids suddenly have issues too? Conversely, if you are chill and grounded, the experience you have with others is relaxed – your calm contributes to others’ peace. See below for two easy grounding activities.

Communicating verbally and nonverbally from a rested, centered place helps job search and networking. Try writing with a smile. Compose a cover letter or interview with upbeat clarity attracts positivity and good outcomes. Same with networking; you leave an impression, an energy imprint as you engage with contacts. A great interaction will invite more because now you are excited about the possibilities. Lastly, a job search can be a long process and self-care is the secret to sustaining and succeeding in that journey.

Take small steps. Make minor increases. Meditate for 5 minutes and add a minute each day. Walk another block next time. Also, life isn’t always puppies and roses – I’m not advocating bypassing sadness and anger. Feel free to see them for what they are. We all have our shadows and saboteurs, the ‘inner committee’ that tells us that we are not worthy or doing enough. Invoke Ferdinand the Bull: sit with it and see what happens.

At times, we can’t do everything ourselves. Our instinct can help us find support from those we trust. Asking for help is a sign of wisdom and willingness to be vulnerable.

Let’s ride this Taurus energy and celebrate our bodies. It is a source of power that keeps on giving when we take care of it. And that is certainty.

Grounding activities:

  1. Tree meditation:
    • Find a tree you like, put both hands and your forehead on it.
    • Envision receiving energy from the deep earth via the tree’s roots.
    • Count to 30. You may feel some tingling in your hands. That means the energy is flowing.
    • Thank the tree for its assistance.
  2. Ten minute break:
    • Sit quietly on the floor, imagine a column of light going from the base of your spine to the center of the earth.
    • Surround yourself with a bubble of violet light, about 3 feet all around you.
    • Scan and count slowly to 10 at each energy center: your seat area, abdomen, belly, chest, throat, forehead, and top of the head.
    • Ask for release of anything that no longer serves your highest good.
    • Feel free to use calming music. I am a fan of Jonathan Goldman’s work.
